Problem with Purple Cable on Non USA ICR2

I have a problem. I bought a non-USA version of the ICR2 and purchased the purple cable specifically for it. No matter which software I use I either get a message stating that the ICR2 is off or that a cloning cable is not connected to the specified port. Is this due to the fact that the radio is a non US version? I also find that the earphone jack may only be working on one side. I actually have a feeling that this might be causing the problem. If that is so, is there anywhere that I can get this fixed without too much trouble? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
