Hi All, You may be confused, because the lead has a stereo type plug on. One is for data, into and out of the radio, the other is mono sound out. First, what do you mean by "the earphone jack may only be working on one side"? Are you trying to use stereo headphones? The R2 is a mono device, and the earphone jack is designed to drive a mono earphone only. To use stereo heaphones, you need a mono to stereo adapter. Without that, only one ear will get any sound. If the cable and connections and serial port are all OK, software should be able to communicate with the radio at some minimal level, even if it doesn't like the fact that the radio is a non-US version.
