I guess for internationl that's not too bad.  For my R2, I went in 
the opposite direction you did.  Let us know how it works out. I 
bought a Maxxon (don't recall the model #) for mine that extends to 
46" for H.F. listening.  Pretty scary having that much antenna 
sticking out of the R2's little SMA connector...
