Hi,
      Are you using a commercial interface with the R2 or are you using a
home made one.  I had this problem and found out that it was the interface
 I made my own) and I could only send to the R2 and not read.  It was
actually a problem with the interface wiring which I sorted out and it now
works okay.  I can only assume that there is something wrong with your
interface.
