Preventing Overcharging Batteries

Hi I almost overcharged my batteries the last time I charged them .
Now 
to prevent this from happening again I plug my charger into a 24 hour 
appliance timer ,you can set it to Turn Off the charger this way if
you 
forget to turn it off the Timer does it for you .Good luck to all
