Buy the software from Butel.  That will allow easy loading of your data.
 
This is a radio that scans but not strictly speaking what most of us would
call a scanner.  You can scan one bank at a time or all the banks.  It takes
some getting used to.  (And I now use an R5 so have forgotten a lot of my R2
settings.)

was very easy to program. Now, I've got this great high tech radio and 
I'm ready to pull my hair out. The owners manual is not helping me. I 
did find a book on-line (ICOM IC-R2 Owners Guide, by Strong Signals 
Press) that is supposed to help the layman. Do any of you own this book 
and is it worth the $20.00?
I'm getting very frustrated, with the multi-use buttons. I think I'm 
programing a frequency, then next thing I know, it seems like it's no 
longer programed.
Any tips for a rookie?
Frustrated in Toledo.
