I have no experience with that book however I found the two files at
http://groups. <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/icomr2/files/FieldGuides/>
yahoo.com/group/icomr2/files/FieldGuides/ most helpful,
and after about 2 months of using my R2 I ended up getting the cable
and using cs-r2 (also in the files section of this group) for years
until I recently found r2-commander.

The learning curve is darned steep for this little guy, but I am
already dreading the day my R2 no longer functions... has to happen
some day and mine has had a hard life (and long by compared to my
other scanners).
