Ignore the instructions. Think of it like this:
You have up to 24 search ranges to program.

First, pick your lower frequency while in VFO mode. This is where you can t=
une up and down the band with the rotating dial. Not to be confused with th=
e memory (MR) mode.

Second, with your lower frequncy displayed, hold down the FUNC button while=
also pressing the V/M MW button. You are about to store this frequency int=
o a memory location.

Third, turn the dial, while holding down the FUNC button, to find the scan =
edges. These are located by seeing the letters "A" or "b" after numbers 0-9=
(0A, 0b, 1A, 1b, etc.) Stop on 0A, for instance. Now press FUNC while hold=
ing down the V/M MW button. You'll hear a series of beeps, letting you know=
that you've programmed that frequency into a location.

Fourth, repeat steps one thru three to program your upper scan-edge frequen=
cy (in this case it would be programmed into 0b's location.)

Now to search those ranges, you'll have to be in VFO mode. While holding do=
wn the FUNC button, also press the BAND button. You'll now see PROG followe=
d by a number ranging form 0-24. If you've just programmed the first scan-e=
dge, 0A-0b, then pick that one (PROG 0.) Now, hold down the FUNC button whi=
le also pressing "up" or "down" the buttons next to VOL. You should now see=
your Icom searching your scan edges.

Hope this helps.
