Try slowing down your communication baud rate on the radio and in your application software (the have to match-so make sure they do now, before slowing down). If you have no flow control, and you send data from the PC faster than the radio can store it, you can "overrun", and the radio might not recognize any more valid "frames" (bytes) of data.
