Going back to basics ...

When you take it out of trunk scanning, do you get a good solid receive of
the control channel? Is the control channel un-locked-out?

Do you have the other voice channels for the tower programmed into the same
bank?

When scanning in conventional mode, do you hear channels active with voice
traffic?

Going back into trunking mode, what results do you get in talkgroup search
mode (i.e. not scan mode)? Is it displaying IDs? Are you hearing them?

If you "hold" on a talk group, that hold will drop out if the signal from
the control channel is weak or drops out temporarily and the unit will go
back to scan or search.

Check your squelch. The manual says it's not used in trunking mode, but I
think the manual is wrong. AFAIK the squelch is still used on the actual
reception of the control channel and possibly also of the voice frequencies.

I don't know what you are meaning by "hear one bank ... in the scanning
mode". Are you saying that it doesn't scan the other banks or that it does
scan them but doesn't receive anything? Does the "ID scan" indication stay
on for these banks too, or do you get a frequency scan, indicating that
you're not hearing the control channel?

To summarise ... go to conventional scan mode and make sure that you're
hearing all the frequencies - particularly the control channels - and that
scanning will halt reliably on the control channels with a good
uninterrupted control channel sound. Once you know you have a good solid
receive of the various channels, then go back to trunk mode and see what it
does.
