It is certainly possible to tap a scanner like the 245 so as to extract the 
discriminator output (as suggested by your subject), but you would then need 
to take this into a digital decoder to make sense of it.

Additionally, of course, the scanner would no longer scan, but would need to 
be set to a single frequency.

I've never heard of any conversion that will make the 245 into an actual 
digital scanner.
