Re: I am brand new to scanning

I looked up the MTS frequencies @ radio reference .com and they have a lot
of frequencies and there are a lot of  APCO digital channels.  You must buy
a rcvr capable of decoding digital signals.  I hope that you are not
planning on listening to every possible frequency.  I assume that you are
concentrating on the Manitoba area.
Radio Shack, Uniden, and GRE all sell digital receivers and all have pretty
much the same capabilities.  They are much pricier than analog recvrs,  Look
at the specs and prices, then pickthe one that you like.  if you do not want
the portability of a handheld then buy a desk top model.
