Here is the pin-out I used.  Just remove the original connector.  I messed up some of the solder pads under the connector while removing it. So, just solder to the output of the surface-mount resistors that feed it.  It is not very hard, just ugly.  I suppose you could run the wires down to the battery compartment and have some hidden connector in there.
