E-Scanner Plus Windows XP Serial Interface

Got BC245XLT out of retirement and want to update frequencies and trunk groups.  I bought E-Scanner Plus 2.1 long ago and found the registration key.  Re-installed on new laptop.  

After putting 245 into Remote mode I can control the unit with the software control panel and all looks well, it is communicating fine with the laptop.

However, when I try to download frequencies/talkgroups to E-Scanner the program hang immediately with a message something "correct radio connection".  I have to close the window which is Not Responding.

I have tried slowing the baud rate down, adding timeout delays, checking and unchecking the Windows 2000/ME/XP box and it always fails.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
