Most all of the newer menu driven scanners get more complicated to use. Mo= st of the digital scanners are around $500 except the new BCD546HP which is= $599. To receive digital you will need a BCD396XT handheld, BCD996XT base/mo= bile, Home Patrol 1, or their just becoming available BCD436HP handheld or = BCD546HP base mobile, or a scanner from another manufacturer which is capab= le of decoding digital transmissions. In general a Uniden scanner capable of decoding digital transmissions will = have a D in the model number.
