 Is this a USB to Serial Port device or a real serial port on the
computer? 
 Is the 780xlt radio in remote mode when you attempt to connect via the
arc780 software?
 Does the baud rate in the "arc780 software" match the baud rate in the
"780xlt radio"? 
 Can you communicate with other devices connected to the serial port, such
as a modem?
