Ok looks like I missed a step. Sorry about that. Hit Menu, then 1 for System Data. Arrow down to SQ MODE (9) & hit Enter. Then hit 2 for TONE SQ. You should be able to set the Tone now. See if that will work. This is from page 31 from the BC780XLT manual. I'm after hitting the scan button and it stopping on the correct freq' with the correct ctcss, without it scrolling through them all until the correct one is found. Does that make sence? Now you should only hear that freq with that tone only.
