The 780 have probably been programmed, by accident, with a mute command. Connect the serial port to Hyperterminal in windows or any other serial communication program. When you have a proper conection the 780 should answer with ERR when you hit the Return on the keyboard. Check the audio setting by typing MU (in capitals) and hit Return Then reset the audio mute function by sending MUA and hit return. You should get an OK as a respons. MU<cr> returns "MUA<cr>"(Automatic) or "MUN<cr>"(Open Squelch-Noise) or "MUF<cr>"(Closed Squelch-Silent) Could be something else, like a setting that gives trouble. You have tried different mode settings, NFM and FM and also the ATT settings? There is no sound when you open squelch but scanning stops? /Ubbe From: tonyjenkins37 <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, July 10, 2011 11:15 AM Subject: [UnidenBC780XLT] sound advice hello My 780 xlt has issues when on scan operation it has no sound from on board speaker However when on Search operation it has got sound from the on board speaker I have tried the usual remedies but none effective Has anybody got the diagrams for the board or has anyone remedied this issue any help would be great Regards Tony [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
