That depends on your definition of 'work'. The scanner will still receive the new format fine - you may have to increase your volume control a bit. You may also be subject to additional adjacent channel interference since the 780 does not have the narrowband filtering. Aside from that, it will work fine. It will also continue to work fine in the VHF Low Band, 800 MHz (notwithstanding rebanding there for some system types), Aircraft, MilAir, ham, broadcasting, and other bands that are not subject to narrowbanding.
