Hello from Florida, The knobs on these 3 models, 780, 785, and 796 appear to be identical. I have seen several of them break on the scanners I have and on the scanners we have at the TV station where I work. I've found that cyanocrylate glue does a very good job of repairing these knobs. You might also find compatible knobs, which won't be identical to the Uniden knobs, at electronics surplus stores, and you might find compatible knobs at hamfests or online.
