Gary, It all depends on what type of digital trunked systems you want to monitor. If there are any APCO 25 systems running at 9600 Baud then the BC796D is the one you want because the BC785D can only pickup 3300 baud systems. I wish I would have known that when I bought my BC785D in August since the county I live in is on the 9600 Baud system.
