Re: Mobile with 785D and a VHF hi-band radio

I beacon APRS on 146.390mz at 15 watts with the antenna less than Ten(10) feet from my 785d,796, and a Motorola maxtrac UHF 40 watt transceiver next to my 780's.
While I have seen my scanner get stuck on a UHF freq. when I'm talking on the Motorola maxtrac but not my H/T 1000 4 watts UHF

  I used my FT-8100R (VHF 50w and UHF 35w) in close proximity to my BC-250D without any problems. The rig is connected to an antenna on the front fender/hood and the scanner was in the car with the rubber duck.

    Does anyone have any experience using a 785D and a ham 2 meter (or VHF
    high band) 50 watt radio with both mounted in a car and with both
    connected to appropriate mobile antennas that are two or three feet
    apart on the trunk or roof of the car?

    What I really want to know is if the 785D can stand being in that
    strong an rf field and not be damaged.
