It appears you might be having desense because of excessive strength nearby off channel transmitters too close to you. Consider trying the attenuator feature (not sure if this works on trunking)and use the lowest gain or an indoor antenna to receive your 800 mhz signals. This might be too big of a problem to use your scanner if you are near a cell tower.
