You can have the 300 Hz and 500 Hz filters installed in both the FT-100 and FT-100D at the same time. The filters just plug in. Once they are in the radio you just have to turn them on in the menu (Menu items #31 and #32) for them to be selectable from the front panel. One thing to note is that you cannot have the 300 Hz and AM filters in the radio as the same time. The AM filter and the CW Narrow (300 Hz) filters use the same slot. The FT-100D came standard with the 500 Hz filter, but it was an option for the FT-100.
