FFT-100D Newbie

Good Morning from NC! I bought John Geiger's radio and am slowly figuring out the very basics. I got this with the intention of mobile HF since most of every day is in the car driving better than 200 plus miles. I do need to find a separation kit now, and when the budget allows, an ATAS 120A, mean time I'll go with a good dual band and likely a well tuned 6M mono.
 It is my hope, since this group seems to have been around since the earth's crust was formed, to find the answers to most if not all my many questions right here! You know, one stop shopping and all!
