Problem with the Prolific solution is that they don't seem to provide support, their new web site dues but seem to offer any drivers except for Windows (and even that I had difficulties accessing), and their site states that they deal only with large distributors.

I'd probably stay with friendlier manufacturers and products, like SignaLink.
