At the risk of going OT, I always find it difficult to explain cricket to

Hmmm... The closest in cricket would then be "out obstruct play" i.e.
taking too long to score by playing purely defensively. I think that was
since merged with "out obstruct fielder" i.e. preventing a fielder from
taking a catch or throwing the ball back to the wicket.

Which reminds me, there's another obscure one: "out hit ball twice".

I've tried to figure out the rules, but it's an utterly foreign game to
me... Just like American football, where it's someone's job to physically
block the defenders or something (in the various Aussie football games,
that would be considered a foul, by tackling someone who is not in
possession of the ball).
