Low voltage is possible but if you have over 13 volts of DC input "under 
load" then it is not likely unless a circuit failure has occurred that 
results in increased gain or output swing of the audio.  Too high of 
microphone gain can cause clipping.  There is a speech processor built 
into the FT100 that may not have the parameters set correctly.
