Lots of guys weighing in on this.
Something to keep in mind is that the heat sink grease on your finals is no=
longer pliable and I'm sure it doesn't conduct heat away like it did when =
it was new. That goes for any solid state rig that has high miles on it.Reg=
arding my CW contesting rig, I have muffin fans blowing on the radio's heat=
sink and the power supply's heat sink when the action gets going.For digit=
al modes, they are a must.

In the USofA the regulations governing Amateur operation specify that one =
should run the minimum power necessary to make the contact.=20

I have NEVER run my FT100 at full power. Best at about 70%. Loaned it to a=
friend who's radio quit. He was one that always ran POWER to the max but h=
e honored my request to leave the radio at 70%. Got the best signal reports=
he had ever gotten.

Your radio is designed to run 100w in all modes, use it, digital modes lik=
e FT8 are weak signal modes not low power modes, I only use FT8 on 6m but a=
lways at 100w, your radio is designed for that, 15s full duty TX periods is=
n=E2=80=99t going to do any damage to a well matched radio/antenna.
