flashing display in memory scan

I'vr read a few posts here about this problem. I had to because my
VR-500 has this problem. has anybody figured the cause yet? How about
a fix? Now I know why the price was so good.
Also, I've sent an email to Yaesu tech help about the quirk and
haven't yet gotten a response. I'll post if I should hear from them.
