NAM works with any AM station, but it's particularly useful for
shortwave listening. It applies a narrow-band AM filter to reject
nearby signals that might otherwise interfere. Tuning is sharper
("close" isn't good enough), and high-frequency audio is muted. Most of
the time these are good things.
