My choice of terminology was apparently very poor. I didn't mean mode as in AM, FM. SSB etc. I actually was asking about what functions the problem appeared in. Mine has the flashing problem only when I try to scan user-programmed memories. In VFO, it'll work fine. To tell the truth, I didn't check to see if the problem happened in any search function. Does this sound like your problem? Also, my batteries were fresh.
