Bob, Thanks for the antenna tips. I went to download the TK-500 software into my Windows XP-Pro computer but can't seem to get it working. I printed out the download instructions but I'm not seeing some of the folders/files I should be, including the tk500\500.bat. Is there a current version of TK-500 available or am I just doing something wrong? I have found out that the radio easily overloads. I live about 30 miles outside of NYC and whether the 500 is plugged in to my roof-mount antenna, a RS 9-section collapsible whip, or the factory ruuber duck I almost always have to turn the squelch up almost all the way. When I do that I can't even hear my local PD/FD/EMS! That's when I found the RF Squelch in the menu and set it, usually at 2. I'll back the squelch all the way off and the radio usually performs pretty good. Thanking you in advance, Joe
