Receiver Recommendation Please

Hello all, I am new to this group and I am a falconer and I use a small
telemetry transmitter to track my birds. I have a regular falconry receiver
mounted on a yagi antenna but it is very bulky and tiresome to carry around
all day in the field. I hunt ground game like rabbits and squirrels with a
hawk that does not range very far, normally they only get lost when down on
a kill either in tall grass and heavy cover. The transmitters that I
currently use are at 216.045 and 216.047 MHz. Other common frequencies used
for bird tracking transmitters are 151,173, 216,218 MHz. I know a few people
who are using Icom R-10 receivers to track their transmitters with very good
results, but these are no longer available. Does the VR-500 cover the same
frequency range? Is there any other economical option? Will the Yaesu
VR-120D or IC R-5 work on these frequencies. I really like the smaller ones
because they fit in a shirt pocket but I have been told that they will not
fine tune to the level that I need to program these frequencies. Do you know
of any good used R-10 or VR-500 units available? I would like to stay
between $100 and $200 if possible. I think that I might also enjoy using the
scanner capabilities during the off-season from falconry. Thanks for any
