RE: Receiver Recommendation Please

The point is that the people that I know that are using the IC-R10s use them
with the factory antenna and do not need to use the yagi unless the bird
ranges too far so I don't have to carry it in the field. It will always be
in my truck and I would have to go back there anyway if the bird ranged that
far. It is not a perfect solution but it works great for close work. Thanks

I'm not sure I understand. How is replacing what you are using now going to 
make your rig less "bulky and tiresome to carry around .."?

The "bulk" of your current setup is the yagi .. you'll need the same antenna

for the VR-500 .. so what's the point?
