Hello everyone, as this is my first post.

There is a way to stop the low battery beep without removing the batteries, and totally shut down the radio. You will even be able to turn the radio back on again after waiting a bit, and resume normal scanner operations for a very short while, a minute or two or three.

Press the same buttons you would use as when interfacing with another radio or computer. While holding down the numbers 1, 8, and the enter key all at the same time, then depress the power button. Now the display changes to the cloning screen, and at the same time all radio back lighting is turned off, and you will see the low battery indicator present on the display. (The low battery indicator to my knowledge only has one bar, simply an icon that presents itself). Keep the radio in this mode for at least two minutes minimum. By the way, in this mode, I do not know what the energy draw is, but it is very low. I've never noticed how long it will last in this mode, but it's well over half an hour in this state). But the point is to turn the radio off, so now, after waiting the required minimum two minutes, depress and hold the Function key and the CLR key and the radio will resume normal operation. As soon as this happens, depress the Power key and turn the radio off.

Many times, exhausted batteries have a way of re-energizing themselves somewhat when there is no load on them for a while.
(I won't attempt to explain this, as I am not an electronics engineer). So if you leave your scanner off for say five minutes, you will be able to turn it on again and resume normal functions for a short while. (Interesting, that when you are finally back in this mode, if you were using the lamp lighting, it is back on again now too.) And here's the kicker >> you can repeat this cycle over again, and again, and again. You won't be able to sustain normal scanner operations very long, (it will get shorter each time), but you will be able to scan that band again a few times, or make a few sweeps of your search, to hear that important traffic you're missing.

Hope this helps a few of you.
