Recieving SSB Transmissions on the VR-500

   Thank you everybody for your warm welcome & for the helpful info on how to improve AM reception on the VR-500. One of the most impressive things that sold me on buying this little radio over the others, was the fact that it can also recieve SSB (with a good antenna, of course). I don't know of any other mini radio of its type that can do this.
   Now that I'm able to get around this radio a little better (more on that later!), I have been experimenting with Recieving SSB. Using a BNC female adaptor to a mini plug cord affair, I connected it to my old Radio Shack powered SW antenna, dialed in 5.547 MHZ - my favorite SSB Freq that I hear a lot of Airline-to-Tower overseas Transmissions (San Francisco International Airport over 200 miles away here on the Central coast of California)on my other radios, and Lo & Behold - There they were, just-a-talkin'-away!!! Recieving this (SSB) on such a tiny portable Radio has been perhaps the most rewarding experience I have yet to have so far in this hobby of ours, and it makes me very proud to finally own one of these little Gems that has this capability over the others.
   How about you out there? Have any of you also been recieving any SSB transmissions on your VR-500, and if so, could you plesase share your experiences on this Forum ? In addition, has anyone been able to pull in SSB using a portable antenna hooked up to this unit & if so, which one is the best kind for this function ?
