Yes runs directly from a cigarette lighter cord. 
Earphone jack is monaural but works fine with a stereo cable.
Seems that a broken earphonejack is a common failure. I always 
use a right angle stereo adapter to reduce the leverage on the 
jack itself. Tip and sleeve for the connection.
