They are completely different - plus the vx5r case is metal - you can easily use one of the generic 7*** series nokia belt clips on the vx5r - only cost a few quid as well. not sure wether its that straightforward on the 500 though - owned both up until last week, parted with the 500 - think i may have sold the wrong one as the wideband coverage on the vx5r has severely compromised image rejection - pager breakthrough on 2m band is awful!!!
