Thanks, I ordered the NULL/modem type.  The infsamous manual strikes again. BTW, I must admit, I did not find the "learning curve" very difficult as many owners have reported. I pretty much had it down in a day or two. But the software will be a welcome piece-of-mind for memory backup should I have the need to do a reset.
