Maybe one could disconnect that battery and see if the contents get lost,of course if you have a backup from that computer program or if you dont have that much in there,let us know!I'll see what I can do to make a test also,so if this is just a buffer,then we should be able to find out what part of that control ic can be set up with a backup battery,i am studyin the schematic as best as I can
