 Cannot answer your question exactly. But I'd fire the dealer that did not tell you 
that the VR-5000 has been discontinued: buy somewhere else and get rid of that dishonest dealer.

Re the VR-5000; I have one and it's a nice unit. I have been trying to find a DSP-1 digital 
add-on which I did not, obviously, buy when I bought the new radio. I'm not sure how important it is
but I'd like to have one. Otherwise, I may sell this radio to try something else as I am in a hot bed of 
interference here.

I now realise the VR5000 is a discontinued product, not mentioned my my dealer.. Is that a problem, is support and warranty still OK?
The dealer is still trying to move me onto an AOR 8600Mk2, Is there any one here who has used both and can give a impression on each? There seems little else in this price bracket for a  wide band receiver.
