Thanks for your replies. The cable is definitely a crossed nul modem cable. I've also contacted both Bob Freeth (who writes the software) and Steve who makes the cables. Neither can seem to sus this one out. It's looking increasingly like a fault with the radio. I have now sent the cable to Bob so he can try it on his unit. Obviously if it works for him then it's my unit that is faulty. I'll keep you all informed! --- In [email protected], "gingergrowler" <aubrey@...> wrote: > > Hi there, > Yes it's deffo the correct cable I've triple checked. > I also have FTBVR5K - Bobs software works great on all my other machines so I'm not questioning the software for one second. > I've made sure all comm ports and baud settings are correct etc. > It just doesn't seem to see the PC and vise versa. > I've even tried it on a different PC. > I've also tried the FTBCAT software to no avail. > I'm wondering if it's time to open the unit up and check for dry joints etc? > > --- In [email protected], Dave Hartman <ac2gl@> wrote: > > > > If it's a regular USB to serial cable, you'll need a null modem adapter. > > What software are you trying to use?
