RE: Vertical lines on screen

Hi all - anybody had any real success with fixing the missing display lines - other than an expensive repair job? Mine is missing both horizontal and vertical lines to the extent that some lines are unreadable. I'm pretty sure it can't need a new display - it doesn't have the usual symptoms of the display failure, more like a component failure on the display board. I guess the repair shops just replace the whole board as an assembly. It's difficult as you can't run the whole radio with the display on it's leads - they just ain't long enough! I haven't been brave enough to remove the display and clean up the sponge connectors yet but sooner or later....

Perhaps I'll just get another UBCT8! I have a few HF receivers already and the Uniden has been working for over 8 years and the Butel software works well enough too.
