check the batteries. i noticed myself that the
compartment is not spring-loaded like other handheld
scanners. Nimh batteries are smaller in length, which
adds to this 'looseness'. if a battery is not making
good contact to the terminals it could intermittently
interrupt power to the radio. just a thought.
