I can't be sure about this part either, but if memory serves me correct, you
can view the freqs that the radio has found even if you stop the search
before it fills all memory channels.

If someone determines that it doesn't work that way, I suppose that if you
decide to stop the search, one could open the squelch & the radio would
store every frequency past the point that you opened the squelch, filling
the channels that way.
