Got my VR-120D yesterday

Hi all,

I got my VR-120D yesterday, after readings lots about it in this group
(and some questions I posted in this group).
I'm living in the Netherlands, Europe

I really like the small size of it. I already did some short tests, which
basically means I compared the reception with my Yupiteru MVT-7100.

I noticed on the air band that the Yupi is more sensitive than the VR-120.
Example: I was listening to the tower frequency of a local airport on
119.475 MHz in AM. I have 2 exactly the same telescopic whip
antenna's. I extracted both to the maximum length and put one
on my Yupi en the other on the Yaesu. I placed both scanners at the same
location in front of the window of my living room.
The Yupi could receive the ground station. Although there was noise, I
could clearly hear it. The VR120 however did not receive it. Not even
when I opened the squelch!
The airplane itself was picked up by both, but the VR120 had more noise
(as expected, because it didn't receive the ground station).

I know that the Yupi is a very sensitive scanner, but still I found the
difference remarkable.

On a frequency 86,750 (which is used by our local police) there was no
difference, both picked it up the same.

On 375.200 is a ATIS station (in AM) of a nearby NATO airfield (AWACS
planes).
As well on this frequency I had the idea that both were almost performing
equally (the Yupi was a bit more sensitive, but not much).

I thought it could be due to AM mode, but as said the AM mode on
375.300 gave
not worse results than the Yupi.

Did anyone notice that the VR120 is not that sensitive on the airband?

I as well connected the VR-120 to my outside discone antenna, and I
did expect
some problems regarding interference. However it performed quite well
on this
antenna (I just tested some frequencies)

I will do some more testing this weekend to compare both...
