does it charge when dc socket is used ?

My ic-r5 charge the batteries when i use external power, but i first 
have to set/verify that i am using rechargable batteries using a menu 
that comes up when connecting the power.

Does the VR-120D charge if i power it using the dc socket on the 
side ?
