Sanger still does our WGS assembly work on single large memory  
machines (SGI Altix, in our case).  Any small memory properly  
parallel alternative is definitely interesting though, so I'll have a  
look at Euler.  Getting those change-fearing users to actually use it  
might be a challenge, of course...
