Re: pipeline pilot vs. taverna?

Hi,
Just want you to know that there is another new alternative: Workflow
Designer from UGENE project.

Here I can describe its pros and cons briefly

Pros:
* Have integrated visual environment to visualize data used in workflow
* Project is growing fast. It's a part of some Linux distros.
* Focused on integration of high performance versions for popular
algorithms. Can add more details here if you need.
* Open-source
* You can request free improvements to the project you need. The
improvements will be free until you agree to keep them open-source.

Cons: I see only 1 but very important:
UGENE is now 7 months old project. The first 'preview' version of Workflow
Designer was released 2 months ago to get feedback from users. The next
version will come out next week (~March, 5) and will have a number of
usability and visualization improvements, but still lacks some important
features we going to add later: like integration with preconfigured MPI
clusters to speed up computations, modest web services integration support.

However, once you start using it and make requests, you can shift our
development priorities and get the features you need. Having hundreds of
downloads per week these days from our site we still lack practical feedback
from our users.
